Dental Hygienists are specialists in all aspects of preventive dentistry. They play an important role in dental health care by preventing dental disease and helping you keep your teeth clean and healthy.
Good home care is important if gum disease and tooth decay are not to progress into more serious problems.
The cost varies according to the amount of time/visits that you need and how frequently you need to visit the hygienist.
Once your gum condition has been stabilised, you may only need to visit every six months or every three months. If your teeth stain easily you may wish to attend more regularly for tooth polishing – see what our prophyjet can do for your stains.
All our hygienists are very gentle and will ensure you leave with your mouth feeling so much healthier and looking great.
Making your teeth look good makes you feel good. And that’s all part of being healthy.

On your first visit, your hygienist will thoroughly check your gums. Part of the appointment will be spent on oral hygiene instruction; the rest of it will involve scaling and polishing your teeth.
If the hygienist feels you need a further appointment then she may encourage you to see her again. Once your gums are healthy your hygienist may recommend that to keep your mouth that way, you should see her at three or six-monthly intervals.
